Abracadbra!, curated by Barbara Cohen and Donna Pomponio, brings together the work of four artists who explore the magic of the artmaking process, presenting an intoxicating brew of illusions and sleights of hand, sure to intrigue and amaze even the most savvy connoisseurs of artistic prestidigitation.

David Crane, Nika Feldman, Richard Neal, and Margot Stage are Outer Cape Cod-based visual artists whose sculptural work is connected through the use of found materials. While Neal and Stage work with multiple mediums, Feldman and Crane are more singular in their material focus, the former being garment-based and the latter focused in wood. Each artist recognizes process as being a prominent element in their practice, while their materials help to direct the artistic vision.

David Crane is a sculptor whose primary medium is wood. He uses found detritus, collecting material from beaches, millwork scrap bins, dumpsters, and forests. His practice ranges from carving chunks of cherry trees to creating assemblages with his found wooden objects.

Nika Feldman is a garment-based interdisciplinary artist using salvaged materials and adhering to three self-constructed concepts: sartorial sabotage, schmatte prowess, and feminist chutzpah. Feldman’s practice centers around hand-stitching, cutting, and deconstruction with most work being presented as performance-based installation. nikafeldman.com‍ ‍@nikabilt

Richard Neal uses a Frankenstein approach to create new objects and images using paint and pre-existing materials. The writer, André van der Wende has observed that “Neal is a master at creating distressed surfaces full of invention and the unexpected, tough and confrontational in their manufacture and effect.” richardneal.net‍ ‍@chalkboardstudio

Margot Stage is an interdisciplinary artmaker whose practice is a kind of call and response. Various objects catch her eye and her heart and she is compelled to make art with those materials. Margot is a member of PAAM, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Salon, and the Sail Loft Art Collective. margotstage.com
